An 18thC Chinese Export Armorial Porcelain Sauce Boat and Saucer, bearing the crest of the Scottish Robertson family of Strowan, the Boat with scalloped edge decorated with swag and foliate border, the Saucer with identical decoration, the Coat of Arms bears three griffins' heads and has a helmet with plumes above, a crest in form of an arm holding up a coronet and the Latin motto 'VIRTUTIS GLORIA MERCES' ('glory is the reward of valour'). It is flanked by a serpent and a brown dove, with the motto 'WISE AS THE SERPEWT HARMLISS AS THE DOVE', below is a naked figure chained to the coat of arms, a plate from this service is held by The British Museum, https://www.britishmuseum.org/collection/object/A_Franks-1417.
